About Our School

As part of St. Cloud Area School District, McKinley is an Alternative Learning Center that serves Apollo and Tech High School students, as well as those in surrounding area school districts, who are in need of alternative methods of education delivery and/or credit recovery. McKinley provides a safe and caring climate and culture for students, their families and staff. A Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports focused school, McKinley values respect, optimism, achievement and responsibility.

McKinley students engage in learning through small group, individualized and hands-on instruction. Social emotional learning addresses resiliency, academic confidence, connectedness, stress management, health and intrinsic motivation. Differentiated programs serve identified needs, including night school and summer school, a middle college program with credit articulation through St. Cloud Technical and Community College, and the Recovery School Program for students in recovery from substance abuse.

McKinley students are inspired through vocational and service opportunities, including MAAP STARS leadership conferences and a partnership with the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.
